When Microsoft finally discontinued Xbox Live support for Halo 2 on April 15, it was the end of an era. Gamers from around the world who spent inordinate amounts of time fragging each other in Halo 2′s many levels were forced to say goodbye.
However, as most left for newer alternatives, some refused to let go just yet.
“Throughout the past week, a small group of dedicated Halo 2 players kept their Xbox’s on so that they could enjoy the game for a while longer,” Bungie Community member “Joe Campbell” wrote in a forum. He said even though Microsoft has turned off support for Halo 2, the players have been able to keep playing the game because they haven’t turned their consoles off and maintained a constant connection to Xbox Live since April 15.

Now I Loved Halo 2, but they are taking that love to another level all together. Good Luck Guys! My your connection run hot and you console run cold.

Ubisoft’s always-on digital rights management solution, dubbed the “Online Services Network,” has apparently been circumvented by hackers. News of its arrival on peer-to-peer file-sharing networks began circulating in places like social-news site Reddit Wednesday morning.
The DRM, which now ships with every new PC game made by Ubisoft, requires that gamers have a constant connection to the Internet in order to play their games. The security feature caused a large backlash by users for its inclusion in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 2 title, which was released last month.

It’s been pretty much one great thing after another for Steven Holcomb since winning the bobsled gold at the Vancouver Olympics. Well, at least until this week.
Holcomb, who is a big-time computer nerd and video gamer, discovered that his prized Xbox 360 and games had been stolen out of his car. And while the $4,000 worth of gear and games has him a little queasy, what really makes him sick are the hundreds of hours of saved games that he had on the console.

The sun is shining, it’s almost the weekend, and PSM3 issue 126 is on-sale today. It’s a GLORIOUS day to be alive. So there’s every reason for you to roll out of the house/office/dungeon today and pick up a copy of the new mag – it’s rammed full of PS3 and PSP news, reviews, insight and industry gossip (just wait until E3, then remember where you read it first), the highlight of which is the world-exclusive reveal of horror shooter F.3.A.R. (or FEAR 3, if you prefer).
Want to know how a pregnant woman – yes, Alma, the misunderstood psychic nightmare/girl/woman from the previous games – is going to destroy the world? Or how you’re forced to join forces with a man you’ve already killed – who, er, also happens to be your brother to stop her? Except, of course, you might not be stopping her, but helping her, since she’s your mother? It’ll all make slightly more sense when you read it, but above all, it’s a bold attempt to re-define co-op shooters, with genuine scares, and a secretive defect/co-operate central mechanic, where… well, we’re not allowed to spill any more here, but it’s an approach that’ll raise some eyebrows.

Playing video games socially is something that we’re all more than likely familiar with: invite friends over, have a few beers, play some Rock Band. Many of us might also grab a drink when playing Madden or when grinding in Dragon Age. What may not be known, though, is if alcohol consumption really is as common an occurrence among gaming sessions as we’d like to think it is.
About a month ago, we asked our friends and readers about their opinions on drinking and gaming. Do we gamers often consume alcohol when playing? What do we drink, and is there a specific drink per game type? The results were not all that surprising.
I need to preface this article by saying that this was administered purely for entertainment purposes. No, it’s not a completely representative survey of gamers, but it does cut a nice cross-section, at least of our readers and friends. While this won’t be published in the NYT it can, at least, let me choose what beverage to bring to the next SideQuest meet-up.
First, the hard numbers that set up the survey:
Go Figure we got a whole guild going on involving this. So I kinda knew the results going hin. anyway hit the link for the rest of the poll and results.
